Text: Revelation 21

(I) A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.” Revelation 21:1



(II) FULFILMENT OF THE PROPHECY OF THE NEW HEAVEN AND NEW EARTH

“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;
And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.” Isaiah 65:17

“For as the new heavens and the new earth
Which I will make shall remain before Me, says the LORD…” Isaiah 66:22


(III) THE HOLY CITY, THE NEW JERUSALEM

1. Coming down from heaven (Revelation 21:2)


2. The tabernacle of God with men (Revelation 21:3)


3. Great characteristics

a) No more tears (Revelation 21:4)

b) No more death (Revelation 21:4)

c) No more sorrow (Revelation 21:4)

d) No more crying (Revelation 21:4)

e) No more pain (Revelation 21:4)

f) No night there (Revelation 21:25)

“…the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4

“Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ And He said to me, ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful.’ ” Revelation 21:5



(IV) INVITATION TO BECOME GOD’S CHILDREN

“…I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.” Revelation 21:6-7

1. Offer given by the Alpha and the Omega (Revelation 21:6)

2. Offer of life eternal as the children of God (Revelation 21:6-7)



(V) THE SECOND DEATH

“But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8

(VI) THE BRIDE OF THE LAMB

“…Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” Revelation 21:9

“And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
having the glory of God.” Revelation 21:10-11


(VII) BEAUTIFUL DESCRIPTION OF THE HOLY CITY

1. High wall (Revelation 21:12)


2. Twelve gates (Revelation 21:12)


3. Twelve foundations for the wall of the city (Revelation 21:14-19)


4. No temple in it

“…the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.” Revelation 21:22


5. No need of the sun and moon

“…for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.” Revelation 21:23



(VIII) THOSE WHO ARE ALLOWED TO ENTER IN

“But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.” Revelation 21:27

“And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honour into it.” Revelation 21:24
