WELCOME TO BETHANY

We are glad that you have chosen to worship the Lord Jesus with us today! May your heart be greatly encouraged through worship and fellowship!

HOLY COMMUNION FOR SEPTEMBER

We will be observing the Lord's Supper on 14 September 2008 instead of next Sunday. Pastor Mark and Pastor Charlie will be away ministering in Perth on 7 September 2008.

CATECHISM CLASS
(12.45pm)

The Catechism Class meets today! May the Lord bless all attending Catechism Class. The next Baptismal Service will be held in December 2008.

BIBLE MEMORY WORK

TODAY

Fulfill Your Ministry

"But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."
2 Timothy 4:5

1. A Necessary Word Of Admonition

  1. To fulfill the ministry God has given to us.
  2. In particular, the ministry of evangelism is to be borne in mind!

2. Two Things To Bear In Mind As We Seek To Fulfill Our Ministry

  1. Watchfulness
We must never lose this sense of watchfulness!
  2. Endurance
There may come afflictions! But having an enduring spirit will always go a long way to help us cope!

NEXT SUNDAY

Called into the Fellowship of His Son

"God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."
1 Corinthians 1:9

COLLECTION FOR JU ENG HOME

Thank you for your love and concern for the Residents of Ju Eng Home for Senior Citizens. Both cash and kind were delivered to Ju Eng Home during the week! May the Lord bless every cheerful giver!

The children in Junior Sunday School must be especially commended! The children were very keen and sincere about doing their bit for Ju Eng Home! They gave of their savings because they have learned to care for others less fortunate!

ANNIVERSARY OFFERING

Thank you for your love gift and your support for the work of Missions. We will have enough for the Jayam IPC Building Project! In fact, we will have enough for the Study Centre Building Project (Sathiyam IPC) when we receive permission to build!

A GREAT START FOR THE 36TH YEAR OF MINISTRY

This is a great start for the 36th year! Let us seek to be always abounding in the work of the Lord! We know that our labour is not in vain (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:57-58).

CELEBRATING BETHEL'S 14TH ANNIVERSARY

Bethel celebrates its 14th year of ministry (1-7 September 2008).

Two main things would be highlighted during the Celebrations:

1. The Fellowship Between Bethel And Bethany

  1. This is seen as a vital entity.
  2. This is to be deeply appreciated.

2. The Fellowship In Gospel (Bethel And Missions Work)

  1. Bethel seeks to do its part for Missions work too.
  2. The Anniversary Offering will go towards Jayam IPC.

Pastor Mark and Pastor Charlie will lead a contingent from Bethany to celebrate with our brethren in Bethel.

PASTOR MITCH AND SESSION

In the week (1-7 September 2008), Pastor Mitch and the Session would be in charge of looking after Bethany. Pastor Mitch would be on hand to attend to all matters that require pastoral attention.

PRAYER MEETING/BIBLE STUDY/PREMARITAL COUNSELING

There will be a recess of these Meetings next week (School Vacation)!

YAG SEMINAR

Theme: Partakers of the Divine nature
Venue: Bethany
Cost: $50.00
Date: 30 Sep- 1 Oct 2008
We commence on Tuesday night, 8.00pm
We conclude on Wednesday evening with dinner (Wednesday is a public holiday)!

Let us be deeply challenged to learn much more about what it means for all believers to be "partakers of the Divine nature." Knowledge on this subject would stand us in good stead! Let us encourage each other to grow in our knowledge of our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ! There is great blessing in store for all who deepen their understanding of what it means to be partakers of the Divine nature!

YOUTH CONFERENCE
(7-12 December 2008)

Theme: "Be Strong"
Date: 7-12 December 2008

The Youth Conference hopes to help all attending to find special strength in the Lord! The need for strength from the Lord is all too obvious! Three may be highlighted:

  1. Strength for studies.
  2. Strength to live significantly.
  3. Strength to engage spiritual enemies effectively.

All too often, the lack of strength is sadly obvious! The challenge for the Youth Conference is to help young people find that special strength from the Lord. Let us ask the Lord to bless the Youth Conference!

A FOND FAREWELL

We bid a fond farewell to our students who left to pursue their studies overseas.

  1. Rachael Leong (Canada)
  2. Anthony Tan (USA)
  3. Andrew Kam (USA)

BETHANY OVERSEAS STUDENTS FELLOWSHIP

This is the latest ministry of Bethany. Pastor Charlie writes a devotional for them during the week to encourage them in their studies!

THANK GOD FOR HIS MERCY

Benjamin Chong underwent a successful spinal operation on Tuesday, 26 August 2008. He is recuperating well! He thanks all who prayed for him!

EXAM FEVER

Some of our young people are studying hard for their prelims! Let us remember them in prayer!

POETRY CORNER

HE LEADETH ME

In "green pastures"? Not always; sometimes He
Who knoweth best, in kindness leadeth me
In weary ways, where heavy shadows be,
Out of the sunshine, warm and soft and bright,
Out of the sunshine into darkest night,
I oft would faint with sorrows and affright,
Only for this: I know He holds my hand;
So, whether led in green or desert land,
I trust, although I may not understand.

Beside "still waters"? No, not always so;
Ofttimes the heavy tempests 'round me blow,
And o'er my soul the waves and billows go.
But when the storms beat loudest, and I cry
Aloud for help, the Master standeth by,
And whispers to my soul, 'Lo, it is I."
Above the tempest wild I hear him say:
"Beyond this darkness lies the perfect day;
In every path of thine I lead the way."

So whether on the hill-tops high and fair
I dwell, or in the sunless valleys where
The shadows lie, what matter? He is there.
And more than this; where'er the pathway lead,
He gives to me no helpless, broken reed,
But His own hand, sufficient for my need.
