Father Of Lights
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
James 1:17
1. God Is Described Wonderfully As "The Father Of Lights"
- With whom there is no variation.
- Or shadow of turning.
- The symbol of "light" is given as a contrast to "darkness".
This describes God beautifully and correctly!
2. God Is Described As A Great Giver
- Every gift from Him is "good".
- All gifts from Him are "perfect".
God does not give in any other way!
3. Take Time To Thank God
- For being our Father.
- For being a wonderful Provider and Giver of good and perfect gifts!
- Let us seek to cultivate a heart of great appreciation of the Lord.

FATHER'S
DAY (21 June 2009) |
We will be having a special Father's Day worship service on 21 June 2009. This will be another Combined Worship program. The Children from "Children's Worship" would be with us on this occasion. A special item by SSS II is being carefully prepared!
TESTIMONIES: "THINGS MY FATHER DID RIGHT"
Do you have a wonderful father? Write about your father and honour him! Write a short testimony about what your father did right for you! Let us seek to practise the 5th Commandment, "Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long" (Exodus 20:12).
There is a special promise of blessing to all who sincerely honour their fathers and mothers. In this instance the promise is one of "long life." The length of life is determined by a number of factors. The following may be considered:
- Our genes (theoretically).
- Our lifestyle (possibly).
- God's special blessing (definitely).
The focus of this promise is not just a long life, but a life that is blessed by God! That makes all the difference! A long life full of God's blessings is not to be taken for granted!

2. Teaching At The Junior Camp
Thank God for all who are committed to teaching the Juniors about the Lord. The Camp Teachers are proving themselves to be worthy disciples!

MISSIONS: INDIA
1. Dedication Of Extension Of Jayam IPC
This would be dedicated in July 2009 (Actual date would be confirmed later. The extension work is not yet fully completed).
2. Installation Of J.S. Morris As Intern-Pastor
He will be installed as Intern-pastor of Jayam IPC after he returns to India on 30 June 2009. (He will be installed in July 2009 at the Dedication of the Extension Project.)
3. Let Us Continue To Pray For The Work Of The Lord In India.
The installation of an Intern-Pastor and the dedication of the extension project are things to rejoice in. However, the success of the Lord's work depends on how His work is regarded!
- There must be prayer effort.
- There must be powerful perseverance.
Without faithfulness no blessing from the Lord would be experienced!
MISSIONS: PERTH, WA
Ordination of Pastor Christopher Lai on 10 September 2009. His ordination will coincide with the celebration of the 15th Anniversary of Bethel IPC. Those who are planning to attend are asked to inform the Pastoral Team.

The building of the HQ church in Tahan has commenced! Let us look forward to a successful conclusion of this building project!

CELEBRATING BETHANY'S 36th ANNIVERSARY |
We will be celebrating Bethany's 36th Anniversary on 22 August 2009 at Raffles City Convention Center (RCCC). The theme chosen is "Servants in the Lord."
Rationale for this theme:
- It celebrates our understanding that it is a privilege to be called to serve the Lord.
- We will also be celebrating ALL who have served the Lord faithfully all these years!
- There will be a
special series of Pulpit messages (July-August) preached on this topic
of being "servants of the Lord.
- The apostle Paul sets a clear and great example of honouring those who served with him.
- To all who served with him, he honoured by mentioning them in his epistles.
- Let us pray that we would be challenged in our hearts to be good and faithful servants of the Lord!
BOOK YOUR TABLE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
The cost per person is $150 only. All proceeds would go towards the support of Missions work! Let us look forward to another successful celebration of our Church's Anniversary!

CONDOLENCES |
Heartfelt condolences to Siew Chiong on the demise of her aunty, the late Mdm. Oon Swee Geok. Mdm Oon came to know the Lord a few months ago. She was baptised on Friday, 29 May 2009. She was called home to be with the Lord on the same day!

RECALLING LESSONS ON PRAYER
Two lessons may be recalled!
1. The Privilege Of Prayer
- To be able to enter into the Presence of God is a privilege we must never take for granted.
- To bring our petitions before the Lord, especially on behalf of others, is a privilege that we must treasure.
2. The Power Of Prayer
- God does hear our prayers.
- That He answers our prayers is a humbling thought.
- Many lives can be touched and blessed because we pray!
Let us desire to be deeply committed to being prayerful.
