When we think of Bethany, the word "GROWTH" comes to mind.

Bethany I (1973-1992)

We may speak of Bethany I as that stage of growth when we were seeking to establish ourselves.  Looking back over the years, a few features stand out.  Our emphases as we laid the foundation were the following:-

  • We have sought consciously to build Bethany on the Word of God.
  • We have realised how much we need God's blessings in our life, and thus our hearts turned again and again to Him in prayer.
  • We have sought to emphasise the need to have a dynamic faith-relationship with God.
  • We have sought to consciously fulfil the great commission, so well encapsulated in Matthew 28:18-20.  We interpret that Commission as the task of making disciples, and not just soul-saving work.
  • We have sought to cultivate a special sense of oneness in Bethany characterised by Christ-like love for those in the household of faith particularly.
  • We have sought to provide good Christian fellowship, because we believe that the nature of the Church is such that members must be encouraged to minister to each other as much as possible.
  • We believe that God has given to us a precious gift - the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we ought to cultivate this love for the "Bride of Christ."

The physical location of Bethany I was a little house in Seletar Hills.  Over the years, we outgrew the facilities afforded.

Bethany II (1993-2000)

We bear witness of the mercy of the Lord that has endured till today.

  • In His mercies, God gave us a new place to worship and serve Him in.  We moved into our new premises in 1993.  Our new location at Upper Paya Lebar Road has enabled us to explore many new ministries.
  • Again, conscious of His mercies, we believe that the Lord has allowed Bethany to extend its ministry to other countries.  We are now a small IPC family bearing witness for the Lord in India, Perth and Myanmar.
  • The challenges of ministry continue to thrill out souls, as we see the Lord adding to the Church those He is saving.  However, our commitment to the principles that helped us to establish Bethany continue to be held close to the heart.
  • Our church verbal logo also represents our prayer.  Our wish is for Bethany to be...

    God's kind of Church...
                Where God is touching lives...
                            Where people care for people.

Bethany III (2002 and beyond)

We have submitted plans to rebuild Bethany.  God willing, we will be able to make Bethany even larger so that we can minister to even more people:-

  • Our heart's desire continues to be the promotion of God's Word.  At Bethany III we hope to see many more trained for the full-time Pastoral Ministry.
  • We continue to be deeply concerned about the Great Commission, and we desire very much to reach out to many, many more with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We love our Church and will continue to do all in our power to provide for the needs of the Church.
  • We believe in the mercies of God and this drives us to seek Him in prayer believing that He is indeed a Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
