Text: Psalm 139

Doctrine of God

1. Acknowledgment of the Omnipotence of God

2. Wonderfully seen in the creation of man

a) In the womb
"For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother's womb."
    Psalm 139:13

b) Skillfully wrought
"My frame was not hidden from You,
when I was made in secret,
and skillfully wrought in the lowest part of the earth"
    Psalm 139:15

c) In Your book
"Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed,
and in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned me, when as yet there were none of them"
    Psalm 139:16

"I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made,
Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows right well.

1. The activities of the wicked

a) Bloodthirsty    Psalm 139:19

b) Evil speaking    Psalm 139:20

2. Attitude towards wicked people

a) Prayer against the wicked (unrepentant)
"That they may be slain"    Psalm 139:19a

b) No fellowship with the wicked
"Depart from me..."    Psalm 139:19b

c) Loathing of the wicked
"Do I not hate them, O LORD, who hate you?"    Psalm 139:21

"I hate them with perfect hatred;
I count them as my enemies"
    Psalm 139:22

3. A humble prayer
"Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties.

And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting"
    Psalm 139:23-24
