UNDERSTANDING THE PROFOUND PURPOSES OF GOD

1. God planned 10 plagues    (Exodus 7-12)

2. What were some of the reasons for this elaborate plans?

3. We discover an important lesson the Lord sought to teach:

The Profound Purposes of God

a) God has profound purposes behind all that He does

b) The challenge is to discover these purposes through diligently seeking:-

    i) In Prayer

    ii) In review

4. Some purposes of God revealed:-

a) To bring about faith
"That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you"    Exodus 4:5

b) To cause Pharaoh and all Egypt to have due respect for God
To answer the arrogant question of Pharaoh
"Who is the LORD that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, nor will I let Israel go"    Exodus 5:2

"And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them"    Exodus 7:5

c) To cause Israel to know their God better
"Then you shall know that I am the LORD your God who brings you from under the burdens of the Egyptians."    Exodus 6:7

d) To fulfill His promise made to Abraham
"And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage. I am the LORD"    Exodus 6:8
